Beth Sarim
by larc inhow many of you knew about beth sarim when you were a jehovah's witness?
our most frequent poster, waiting, did not know about it until she left the religion.
i happen to know about it because my aunt berta lived there after rutherford's death.

I never knew anything about Beth Sarim until a few years ago, but the discovery was one of the things that convinced me the WTS was NOT the truth.
According to Rutherfords talk and later publication "Millions Now Living Will Never Die" the faithful worthies were supposed to be resurected in 1925. Obviously it didn't happen. However, just in case, he organised the building of Beth Sarim in 1929, and had the deeds made out to those self same "Worthies".
That in itself struck me as odd, building a house for them in 1929, 4 years after they should have arrived! Also the notion that these men of old who died in the Middle East should be resurected to live in a big house in San Diego, California. None of this adds up until you consider that this house was built in the middle of the depression. Plus the fact the only person to live in it and die in it was Rutherford. So it then becomes clear that this was nothing more than a scam for the Judge to have a mansion to live in free of charge, where he could spend the winters, with his 2 Caddies parked in the drive.

Another Watchtower CON!!
If they ever thought about what they were told JW's might realise how they are being duped.
Always this image is portrayed of a paradise with mountains and streams, little children playing with lions, mum gathering fruit off the trees and dad building his own log cabin.
Yet, even using the WT scenario, Armageddon was to come and destroy everyone but the dubs, and even some of them were for the chop! That means you'd have about 5-6 million survivors. Let say there were as many as 10 million. THey would be speread all over the world, which means they would be a bit thin on the ground, to say the least.
And what have they survived into? A world in tatters (remember the "artists illustrations in the WT and Awake?), buildings destroyed with rubble everywhere. Bodies in the streets, (what's the latest world population stand at - 600 billion?), so there would be a hell of a lot of digging to do, even after the birds had their fill. Then you have to wonder how will they get around, no fuel, petrol (gas) stations, no electricity, water, gas, sewage etc. Who would set about manning these utilities? Most JW's have only basic eduation due to their desire to pioneer before the end, which means if there's any windows still intact they will sparkle, but as for everything else there going to have problems.
The more you think about it, the more problems you can see. But remember nothing of this is ever dicussed, only the picture of paradise which even the WT says will take 1,000 years to achieve!

I think I would seriously consider it - not from the standpoint that the WTS condem it, but rather whether it was absolutely necessary.
Whilst I am convinced it can be a life saver in many situations, it is still not the ideal solution. There can be complications caused by trandfusions. It can transfuse serious disease along with the blood, such as Aids etc. So it is still a difficult decision to make.
The great thing is that I can now make that decision based on FACTS and not the tradition, superstition or fear of a man made organisation.
The following may be of interest:
Man Gets HIV From Donated Blood
.c The Associated PressSAN ANTONIO (AP) - A Texas man has become the first American infected with the AIDS virus from donated blood since the nation's blood banks implemented rigorous new HIV-screening technology three years ago.
David Autrey, a 51-year-old ranch hand from Chilton, was infected with human immunodeficiency virus, or HIV, from blood donated at San Antonio's South Texas Blood and Tissue Center.
Transmission of the virus occurred during a blood transfusion Autrey received as part of an emergency heart bypass surgery in August 2000 at Scott & White Hospital in Temple, officials said.
``I feel great sympathy for Mr. Autrey,'' Dr. Norman Kalmin, president and CEO of the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center, said Friday. ``We've been devastated by the news.''
Although the testing process now in use by blood banks is highly sophisticated, it is still considered experimental and can fail to detect the virus in blood from donors who gave blood soon after being exposed to HIV, said Dr. Michael Busch, a professor at the University of California-San Francisco and an executive with Blood Centers of the Pacific.
The tainted blood in Texas came from a man who was a regular donor at the San Antonio blood bank and who had donated four times during 2000, Kalmin said.
When the man donated in December 2000, his blood tested positive for HIV in tests done at the blood bank. Blood-bank workers went through previous donations from the man and tried to recover any blood products that hadn't been used.
``The explanation is that the (donor) was recently exposed,'' Kalmin said. ``It hadn't had the opportunity to multiply to levels that were detectable'' in the automated testing.
Experts say the chance of getting HIV from donated blood is one in 2 million to 3 million transfusions, and they stress that the nation's blood supply remains very safe.

Human Anatomy;a Question for JWs
by badboy inif god created man,why is the modern vocal tract posited so people are more likely to choke to death.. cf.
eve spoke-human language and human evolution,pp139-140.
the position of the larynx means that modern humans are more likelier to choke to death.. would a loving god create man in such a way that he would be likely to choke to death

badboy,
That's not exactly true. I know quite a few people, especially within the realms of the WTS who have their vocal tract situated in their rectum!!

i would be fascinated to read some of that transcript. As you rightly said, the only side of the story I have ever heard is the WT one.
I've been trying to get independant transcripts of the Walsh trial in Scotland without much success. I have read it all in Ray Franz book, but would like the actual court records to show JW's without haveing the old "apostate literature" accusation thrown at me.

Well I'm glad that's cleared up!
And I always thought it was a throwback to when "Judge" Rutherford hijacked the WTS from Russels chosen succesors, and in order to clear out any lingering affection or loyalty to Russel, he introduced the no beard pilicy. Prior to this most of the "Bible Students" wore big bushy beards.....just like Russel!!
